After victory over Bradley last weekend, Flint Mountain were back at home again this weekend, where Caerwys were the visitors to the Pavilion. Caerwys had picked up another win in midweek, and currently sit second place in the league. Manager Rob Marshall kept largely the same side that had beaten Bradley last week, but was able to recall club captain Damon Griffiths to the centre of defence, whilst Dean Hughes deputised for Kirk Russell between the Flint Mountain posts.

It was Flint Mountain who started the better side and immediately got onto the front foot. With only nine minutes on the clock, they opened the scoring courtesy of Jimmy McGlone. With Caerwys attempting to play out from the back, McGlone picked up an under-hit back pass to the Caerwys goalkeeper, before sliding the ball past him and into the net.

The Mountain continued to press forward to increase their lead, with Jake Williams heading wide from close range, whilst Jon Edmonds fired over with the goal at his mercy. Edmonds quickly made amends, however, with Flint Mountain's second goal just after the half hour mark. A Caerwys goal kick was picked up by Edmonds, who then ran at the Caerwys defence. Cutting inside from the right, he beat his marker before firing low across goal and into the bottom corner. Only six minutes later, Mountain added a third. After winning a free kick himself, Sean Williams delivered a lovely ball to the back post, where Jake Williams was on hand to head down into the bottom corner unmarked.

In the second half, chances came and went for both sides, before Sean Williams got the fourth Flint Mountain goal, mid-way through the half. Jack Aitken ran on to a ball forward, took it past a Caerwys defender in the penalty area, before finding Williams in space. Facing away from goal, Williams tried a cheeky back heel, which found the bottom corner. At the other end, Caerwys pressed for a consolation goal in the final quarter of the game, but stand-in goalkeeper Dean Hughes was on top form, firstly saving low to his right, before tipping the ball over the crossbar from a close range effort. The away side did beat Hughes late on, but the shot could only hit the post. In the end, Mountain held onto another clean sheet and record a fourth league win of the season.

Despite the result, Caerwys remain in second place and Flint Mountain in third, two points ahead of the Mountain after playing two extra games. Next up for Flint Mountain is a rearranged fixture, with us making the short trip up to Mold to take on Mold Town United. Mold have started brightly this season, but Flint Mountain will be looking to extend their recent run against Mold with another three points.
