Goals from Jake Williams, Sean Williams (pen), Dylan Roberts, Jon Edmonds and Jimmy McGlone secure all three points against Bradley Park at the Pavilion

Fresh from having a free midweek whilst others played, Flint Mountain returned to the Pavilion on Saturday, where we welcomed Bradley Park, looking to continue where we left off against Bellevue last week. Manager Rob Marshall was forced into changes from the convincing Bellevue victory, with Rob Rush, Keiran Farr and Liam Mortimer all come into the starting lineup.

Flint Mountain were on the front foot from the first whistle, as we immediately pressed forward looking for an opening. The attacking partnership of Jack Aitken, Jimmy McGlone and Jon Edmonds were all looking dangerous, but the final pass didn't seem to be coming their way, with the Bradley goalkeeper quick off his line to collect any through balls. The pressure did pay off after sixteen minutes, when stand-in captain Jake Williams opening the scoring. Sean Williams whipped in a corner towards the near post, which was helped on by Jon Edmonds to Williams at the back post. Williams' close range header was straight at the goalkeeper, but he could only fumble the ball into the back of the net.

Despite playing some very good football at times, the Mountain struggled to find another way through during the first half, whilst Bradley were restricted to one real chance themselves, which was well saved by Kirk Russell down to his right. In the second half, Flint Mountain started with the same intensity which opened the first half, and this paid dividends just a minute into the half. Down the right, right back Keiran Farr fed the ball into the path of Jimmy McGlone in the penalty area. The Bradley goalkeeper flew off his line to collect the ball, but clattered into McGlone as he did so, bringing him to the ground and giving the referee an easy call to make, pointing to the spot. Sean Williams was the man to step up, and he planted the resulting penalty into the net, despite the best efforts of the goalkeeper.

As the half drew on, the goals looked to have dried up, with several wasted chances going begging, either by putting the ball wide or by saves from the Bradley goalkeeper. Left back Rob Rush was also clumsily brought down on a mazy run by a defender in the box, only for his appeals to be waved away by the referee. It wasn't until twelve minutes from time that the goals began to flow, as Dylan Roberts, on as a substitute, added the crucial third goal. When the Bradley goalkeeper fluffed his clearance, Roberts controlled the ball before lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper and defenders and into the net for his first goal since August last year.

That goal seemed to kill the hopes of Bradley, who continued to work towards getting a goal back, with Mountain's fourth goal following shortly afterwards. Racing through on goal from a lovely pass through the defence, Jon Edmonds simply smashed the ball into the bottom corner. It was then the turn of Jimmy McGlone to finally get on to the scoresheet. With a defender pressed back towards his own goal, he panicked and underhit back pass towards his goalkeeper. McGlone got the ball ahead of the keeper, but he still had work to do. Controlling the ball, he turned back towards the goal, steadied himself and found the net.

With Tuesday evening's game now postponed, next up for Flint Mountain is the visit of Caerwys to the Pavilion. Caerwys were victorious in this fixture last season, whilst Flint Mountain won the return game in Caerwys later in the season. The visitors currently sit second in the league after four wins from five games, but have played an extra game than Flint Mountain so the game should be a cracker. We hope to see you there.
