Following on from rescuing a draw and poor performance against Brymbo Victoria on Tuesday, Flint Mountain then welcomed Rhosllanerchrugog to the Pavilion in our final game of the season, hoping to end the season on a high. For the final game, Liam Mortimer, Dylan Evans, Keiran Farr and Jimmy McGlone all returned to the starting line up.

The home side flew out of the blocks and after ten minutes, the Mountain had taken the lead. With the ball played into the penalty area, Jack Aitken got to the ball first. With the goalkeeper at his feet and a defender up close, Aitken cleverly turned away from both, and lifted the ball into the net. The lead was doubled four minutes later. After picking up the ball outside the Rhos penalty area, Jimmy McGlone curled a low shot past two defenders and into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

It could have been three almost immediately afterwards, but Sean Wilkes' lofted effort over the goalkeeper was chalked off for offside. Not to be outdone, Wilkes got in on the scoring a few minutes afterwards. Jack Aitken's shot was well saved by the Rhos goalkeeper, but the ball could only find Jimmy McGlone. McGlone twisted and turned and skilfully found Wilkes in the box and he swept the ball into the net for his thirtieth goal of the season. A fourth goal then followed as Mountain continued to press. A Rhos defender fluffed his clearance and Jack Aitken pounced, finding the bottom corner.

With five minutes of the half remaining, Jack Aitken then completed his hat trick. Once again the goalkeeper saved an effort which rebounded straight to Aitken, who had the easy task of tapping into the net. In the second half, Flint Mountain again started brightly and continued as they left off, adding a sixth goal thanks to Jimmy McGlone, who chipped the goalkeeper. Rhos then managed to find a consolation goal. From a long ball forward, the Rhos striker got ahead of his marker , and fired past the advancing Kirk Russell to give them a glimmer of hope.

As the half drew on, Flint Mountain grabbed a seventh goal, again courtesy of Jack Aitken, as he matched Sean Wilkes in getting a thirtieth goal of the season. Running through on goal, Aitken expertly flicked the ball away from his marker and buried his shot past the goalkeeper. Despite further chances, the score remained the same and Flint Mountain had ended the season with a dominant win.

With the season now over, the players and officials will now take a deserved break, before preparations for next season commence. Pre-season friendlies will be announced in due course.
