After claiming a first league win of the season on Tuesday evening, Mountain were quickly back in action and faced a trip to Denbigh Town on Friday evening. Aden Shannon was forced to make changes for the game, with Dan Roberts deputising in goal, while Jord Beck made his first start and Andy Brown returned. There was also the return of Jack Abraham after his short spell with the club last season.
It was a slow start for the Mountain as they struggled to get into the game, with Denbigh on top in the opening exchanges. As Mountain settled, they got the better of the chances. Andy Brown fired over from close range with the goal gaping under pressure from a Denbigh defender, before forcing a good save from the goalkeeper as his shot looked to be headed for the top corner. Ben Brierly also ran through one on one but his shot was well saved.
In the second half, Denbight once again started the better side and it took four minutes of the half for them to take the lead. Running through on goal, a shot was well saved by Dan Roberts but he could only push the ball into the path of another Denbigh player who tapped into the empty net. With twenty minutes to go, Denbigh had a second. They were able to race through the Mountain defence and fire past the outrushing Roberts to double their lead. Despite a late surge from Mountain, Denbigh held on the secure the points.
Next up, Mountain are again on the road and a clash with fellow promoted side, Rhyl 1879, on Wednesday evening.
