The Mountain started the game brightly, but two early injuries led to both full backs being replaced, with Carl Wright making his debut and Alex Jones filling in. Jack Aitken had a great opportunity to open the scoring, breaking through the Rhos lines, but after cutting back inside, he allowed the defence to get back and clear the ball. Aled Reece also had a great effort, but his low shot was well saved by the Rhos goalkeeper. Just before half time, the Mountain were dealt a sucker punch when they opened the scoring with a clipped effort over the out-rushing Lewys Thomson-Williams.
In the second half, Halkyn & Flint Mountain piled on the pressure, but the Rhos goalkeeper pulled off a string of outstanding saves to deny the away side an equaliser.
