After two successive defeats, Halkyn & Flint Mountain made a trip up to Denbigh, to take on Denbigh Town Vets in a fourth pre-season friendly. The Mountain took an early lead through Mark Foster. Foster got on the end of a through ball, rounding the goalkeeper before tapping into the net. On the half hour mark, Sean Williams doubled the lead looping a loose ball over the stranded goalkeeper.
In the second half, an initial lull was suddenly ignited when Mark Foster smashed a 25 yard effort into the top corner. Soon afterwards, the floodgates opened, as David Walkiewicz tapped in from close range at the far post, before Jake Williams hit a volley from the edge of the penalty area, into the bottom corner. As the half drew on, David Walkiewicz added a sixth goal, before Adam Leigh headed home Mountain's seventh.
Despite further opportunities the game ended in a comfortable win. Next up, Halkyn & Flint Mountain welcome Penyffordd Lions to Pant Newydd in the Preliminary Round of the NEWFA Challenge Cup. The two sides met in the Mike Memorial Trophy back in May, with the Mountain triumphing 6-1.
