Flint Mountain got their pre-season campaign underway on Saturday afternoon, facing off against a young Penycae reserves side, up in Wrexham. The first half was a slow affair with neither side carving out any clear cut chances. In the second half, Penycae took the lead early in the half with a strike into the top corner, before adding a second midway through the half. Jon Edmonds went closest for the Mountain, but his low shot was well saved by the Penycae goalkeeper. Late on, with no substitutions available to assist with tiring legs, Penycae capitalised to add a third goal.
Next up for Flint Mountain is the second of three pre-season friendlies, against New Brighton Villa at Holywell High School on Saturday.
